Foodie Friday: Healthy 4 Ingredient Chocolate Mug Cake

I am a dessert person with a sweet tooth that does not quit. Clearly, this is not necessarily a great trait to have when you’re trying to eat clean and live a healthy lifestyle. However, my motto is everything in moderation so I am always trying to find recipes that satisfy my dessert cravings with low calorie, clean ingredients. Thank you, pinterest!

This recipe from The Big Man’s World does just that. 4 ingredients, minimal prep/cook time, 1 serving and 100 calories. What more can you ask for? I say nothing! The Big Man’s World is a great website to find a variety of healthy recipes for any meal. They have a lot more mug cake recipes in one place than many other sites/blogs, so I frequent the site especially for those.

Made with no flour, sugar, oil or butter, this mug cake is guilt-free. And to top it off, this delicious recipe is also paleo, vegan, grain free, gluten free, sugar free and dairy free so it fits with most dietary restrictions.

The Recipe:

4 Ingredient Flourless Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 medium overripe banana
  • 2 tbsp smooth almond butter can sub for any nut or seed butter of choice
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tbsp chocolate chips dairy free or sugar free

Instructions

  1. Grease a microwave or oven safe ramekin and set aside.

  2. In a blender or large mixing bowl, add all ingredients, except for chocolate chips, and blend/mix until a smooth batter remains. Stir through chocolate chips, reserving a few for the top.

  3. Cook in the microwave for around one minute. If you use the oven, bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 Fahrenheit, or until a toothpick comes out ‘just’ clean.

    **Note: This brownie has no eggs so you can enjoy it barely cooked- It will be super gooey and moist.
