#TastyTuesdays: DIY Trail Mix

Stop buying packaged trail mix at the store and start making your own!  Knowing exactly what you put into your body is the only way to maintain a healthy diet.  Plus it’s fun!  No mess, no fuss, and a quick, healthy snack for the road.  Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

My Go-To Recipe: 

  • 3/4 cup lightly salted almonds (I prefer the sea salt ones)
  • 3/4 cup cashews
  • 3/4 cup of peanuts
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup of dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of chopped dark chocolate (a good substitute is dark chocolate M&Ms)
  • Mix together in a large bowl and store it in a mason jar or ziplock bags!

Don’t like an ingredient? Just switch it out with any nut, spice, or fruit you like!  That’s the beauty of trail mix, it is incredibly customizable.  If you are going to put in more dried fruit but careful it isn’t coated in sugar, look specifically for sun dried fruit.
